Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The following topics will be discussed through the course :

- How to interprete the finalities of the geography teaching in accordance with the "missions law" and to design the identity of a geography teacher today?
- How can you place your action within a legal framework, with official references?
- How to translate some geographical competences in learning objectives, in accordance with the different programs?
- How to help the pupils to develop the "thinking geography"?
- What does it mean to think a problem with its global complexity?
- How to design and organise a study case?
- How to create different learning strategies?
- How to design a methodology to evaluate the learning?
- How to use various media in the classroom?

These questions will be examined through concrete examples of situations and teaching exercises, and with the help of advice from working teachers. In this way, future teachers will gradually work out specific tools designed to help them take charge of various kinds of teaching situations.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

After completion of the DD partim I course, students should be able to:
- use all necessary referencies in order to make sure that geography is taught in an up-to-date fashion which is focused on students, and intended to help them acquire the skills required at their level of instruction.
- practice effective communication, master the use of efficient didactic tools, manage learning by students in class effectively;
- develop notions of themselves in order to construct their professional identities as geography teachers.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

 1) Bachelor's degree in geographical sciences or successful completion of additional courses added to the curriculum.
2) Direct access: Master's degree in geographical sciences - general orientation (in progress or completed).

Conditional access in all other cases. See the conditions of access to the programmes.
The possible programme of complementary courses is established with the didactics teacher and the president of the jury among the courses of the geography curriculum (bachelor's and master's degrees), according to the student's previous training.
