Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The objective of the course is to teach basic knowledge that will allow the analysis, understanding and discussion of the different factors and parameters that influence the performance and sustainability of crop production and the impact of the practices implemented during the first stages of the technical itinerary of crops grown under the temperate and tropical agro-ecosystems.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The learning objective is the acquisition of knowledge regarding the first steps of the management of the technical itineraries of crops, concerning:

  • Soil management and tillage in temperate and tropical regions;
  • Soil organic matter management (complementary to AGRO0002 - Crop Nutrition and Fertilisation course);
  • Crop implementation/sowing in temperate and tropical regions;
  • Focus on the management of direct seeding in tropical conditions;
  • Approach to crop nutrition in tropical conditions (the temperate component is extensively studied in the AGRO0002 - Crop Nutrition and Fertilisation course);
  • Varietal choice and association of species (inter-cropping in temperate and tropical conditions.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

None

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures "ex cathedra", are largely illustrated with slideshows and movies. Students are likely to answer questions at any times.
Diverse "popular documents", intended for a wide audience are proposed to the students.
A field trip at the time of crops sowing operation will allow to observe in real conditions tillage and sowing.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face-to-face

Recommended or required readings

At end of each chapter , powerpoint showed is placed at students disposal on e-Campus
teh reading of scientific publications will be asked to the students and will serve as a basis for critical analysis of the pedagological material.
