Learning unit contents
A multi-disciplinary approach to the essential questions concerning today's towns and landscapes, based on input from tools and methodologies in the fields of history, social sciences, town planning and landscape planning. The course aims to familiarise students with the most recent themes and methods in these areas, to encourage reflection in the workshops but also to assist in the end of year projects. The class is organised in modules in the form of seminars (or other complementary activities), based on reading texts, presentations from external researchers and lectures by teaching staff working in partnership.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To familiarise the students with the most current themes and research methods in these sectors, in order to encourage reflection in the workshops offered in this subject, as well as providing a background for their final-year work.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
The knowledge acquired in the theory, human and social sciences, and history courses and in the architecture and town planning workshop during the first bachelor's cycle.

The course will be taught in the form of seminars, based on the reading of texts or lectures (illustrated by PowerPoint or other sorts of presentations, film extracts, etc., plus speeches by external researchers).

Written and/or oral exam. This exam will be based on the reading of a scientific article or critical analysis of a project dealing with one of the questions dealt with during one of the modules (students will be questioned by the teacher(s) concerned).
