It is made up of two series of presentations. Firstly, there are general presentations on the different aspects of research methodology: what is a research field? What is a research issue? How to develop the theoretical framework within which the issues are placed? How to build a body of knowledge? What is an analysis? What is an hypothesis? Secondly, presentations which are closely linked to the pieces of work requested for each session will be developed in line with any difficulties encountered by students as they progress with their work. |
 |
Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| General objectives: to acquire an effective and efficient way of working which can immediately be used in the end of year dissertation. Specific objectives: at the end of the course, students will have built solid foundations for their research, set out in a 15 page "dissertation plan", upon which they can then build their end of year dissertation. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| The final piece of work consists of drafting a "dissertation plan", around 15 pages long, which serves as an examination. In order to meet the prescribed deadlines and depending on the formats required, preparatory work will be set at each course session and must be submitted at the following session. This work includes, for example: identifying a research field, bibliographical research, summary of reading, identifying an issue, building a body of knowledge, outlining a theoretical framework, etc. |
