Learning unit contents

After some theoretical complements given in the form of ex-cathedra courses, the students will be given a project which aims at extracting, purifying and characterizing completely from a chemical point of view (in view of their valorization) a molecule or a class of biobasedmolecules. A bibliographic study and visits to companies will allow students to prepare the manipulations they will perform in the laboratory. At the end of the experimentation, students will be asked to write a scientific article in English according to the format of the chosen journal.
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Carry out a bibliographic research on a targeted topic;
- Choose and apply the appropriate protocols for the extraction and purification of bio-based molecules;
- Characterize completely by a combination of spectrometric techniques, in particular, bio-sourced molecules and interpret these data;
- Take a critical look at the valorization of bio-sourced molecules after possible chemical or enzymatic modifications;
- Write a scientific article in English based on the data they have generated.
