Learning unit contents

This course is taught in English, as part of the Amis and FAME+ Masters.

Since this course is an optional course taught to a usually small number of students, there is some latitude in defining its content, for example by taking into account topics of interest for the future master thesis, etc.

The course usually consists in the analysis and discussion of papers from the recent literature. Depending on the different backgrounds of students, the course may start with a few more conventional lectures.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the students will be able

  • to discuss and propose experimental procedures for synthesis of inorganic materials by common methods
  • to use their background knowledge to develop further knowledge by reading review papers
The learning outcomes might be different if the course is tailored to take into account the specific background of individual students.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

introductory courses in experimental inorganic and solid state chemistry

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

  • theoretical lectures
  • analysis of literature papers and/or textbook chapters
