Learning unit contents

During the "Assessment of sport performance" an exhaustive overview of most common physical tests including field and laboratory approachs.

The identification of the determinants of performance is an essential step in the training process. It allows the coach to identify the elements on which it must focus and prioritize. Depending on the characteristics of the sport and the means available, the coach can build a battery of tests helpful:
- The detection of young talent; - To identify strengths and weaknesses of its athletes; - Monitoring the effectiveness of coaching.
The current practice, integrated module ... will illustrate concretely on the ground, the notions in theory.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

 At the end of the course, the student will:
- know the different tests to evaluate the physical qualities of an athlete;
- be able to extract the information offered by the tests for monitoring and training purposes
- build a battery of tests relevant to the sport and the context;
    In terms of strength training
- to Know and know how to perform the main bodybuilding exercises that can be done in the weight room - to Perform the installation of a subject on a weight training machine by providing appropriate adjustment and execution instructions - to Be able to offer several exercises for the same muscle group with or without specific bodybuilding equipment, in open and closed chains depending on the equipment available  -to Know the evaluation methods allowing to objectify muscle progress (1RM, nRM, RPE, F-V-P profiles)  -to Discover how by modifying a movement we modify the muscular intervention

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The "Introduction to Physical Training" course is a prerequisite for the performance evaluation course.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Practical classes associated with this course are included in the module specific Motricity Sciences

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face-to-face course

Additional information:

The theoretical and practical courses will be conducted in person. Some learning and exercises could be offered at a distance.

Recommended or required readings

The slide show presented during the year will be published online on the portal MyULg.

Exam(s) in session

Any session

- In-person

written exam ( multiple-choice questionnaire, open-ended questions )

Written work / report

Continuous assessment

Additional information:

Theoretical evaluation takes place in the form of a written exam with closed and open answers.
The practical evaluation is carried out on several criteria:
-the level of performance displayed throughout the year and during the physical tests.
-the percentage of attendance at the course;
-motivation
-behaviour
the follow-up in the TP booklet

A practical exam of functional anatomy will be set up at the end of the year.

The theoretical grade counts for 60% of the points. The practical grade counts for 40% (including 15% for functional anatomy). A mark lower than 9/20 in one of the two parts results in a final mark lower than 9/20.

A serious deficiency in a physical test implies a mark lower than 9/20.

An attendance rate of less than 70% in the practical classes automatically implies a grade of less than 8/20. The student will not be eligible for the second session.
