Learning unit contents

This course is coordinated by the President of the Studies' Council. Each student look for a promotor for his/her master thesis and, according to the expectations of the latter, does several tasks that allow him/her to prepare the study that he/she will have to do during the second year of the master programme.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

- To incitate students to involve him/herself earlier in his/her master thesis in order to produce a deeper research.
- To provide to the students a wider thinking process about the research process.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

On the basis of information collected during the "Research Seminars" (1st semester of MSM 1), students establish a contact with a promotor by whom they would like to do their master thesis. Before the April meeting of the Studies Council, they have to provide the name of their promotor. Each promotor asks specific requirements in order to assess the student's involvement in his/her thesis' project. A copy of the guidelines is posted on the Website MyULg and an information meeting is planned at the end of the first semester.

Recommended or required readings

No written document is available according to the highly individualized aspect of the course.

Each promotor provides a mark to the President of the Studies' Council, on the basis of a descriptive numeric scale that is explained to the students.
