Learning unit contents

These activities consist in performing tasks in research laboratories and/or on the field of sport. The distribution of these activities depends on the finality of the programme followed by the student. Prepration to the master thesis and a personal research project applied to field aspects are also planned.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

- To prepare students to involve themselves in a research specific to the Sport sciences. - To allow students to develop professional competences.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The course "Methdology of research in sport sciences" (BSM 3) will provide some support to the students interested by the research orientation.
Field practices proposed in the third grade of the bachelor programme will be a prerequisite.

Group and individual seminaries, field practices.

RESEARCH FINALITY
The 200 hours of this course are used for specific activities focusing on a research domain of the sport sciences dealing with the development of a research experience to the students (100 hours) and four blocks of 25 hours performed on the field (coaching, teaching, sport management, physical activity & health).
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND HEALTH FINALITY
Student must do 75 hours in the sector of physical activity and health and three blocks of 25 hours in other sectors (coaching, teaching, sport management). They will be also involved in research activities during 50 h: a practical research project focused on applied question and the preparation of their master thesis.

Proposed by the involved staff members.

Referent people are invited to provide an assessment about the quality of the work of the student. Supervisors are also visiting the activities and the reports prepared by the students are analysed. The rules are available on myULg.
Each part of this course is specifically weighted according to the finality followed by the student.
RESEARCH FINALITY
30% for all research activities linked to the preparation of a master thesis. 20% for the personal applied research project. 50% for the field practices.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND HEALTH FINALITY
66% for field practices. 20% for the personal applied research project. 14% for the preparation to the master thesis.
