Course contents :
| The optimal ventilation of the buildings is essential to preserve the health of the animals as well as the characteristics of the materials that were used for their construction. The types of ventilation are studied. The effluents of livestock (manure, waste water, ...) are the subjects of a detailed attention in order to set up the requirements to ensure an optimal valorisation of it while preserving the environment and by taking into account the concerns of the neighbours. The specific characteristics of the buildings intended for housing of the cattle, the pig and the poultry are studied, as well as the data needed to dimension the equipment. The landscape integration of the agricultural buildings is covered in the final chapter. |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| The course will give to the future bio-engineers, orientation " Livestock production ", the opportunity to know the basic elements, on the one hand, of the design of livestock buildings and, on the other hand, of a critical examination of the existing buildings for, if necessary, identifying work of improvement to be carried out so that they are adapted better to the needs of the animals and/or in order to decrease their environmental impact. It must also provide them the bases of a good integration of the agricultural buildings in the landscape.
After completing the course the student is expected to
be able to design livestock buildings and to make a critical examination of the existing buildings for, if necessary, identifying work of improvement to be carried out so that they are adapted better to the needs of the animals and/or in order to decrease their environmental impact. He must be able organize a good integration of the agricultural buildings in the landscape. |
