Learning unit contents
The course, partly organised as a seminar, offers an introduction to exhibition and cultural mediation practices in history and society museums. The programme includes visits to exhibitions (mandatory) during which students and teachers will discuss the specific topics of these institutions, the issues involved in interacting with the public and, more generally, the political significance of these museums, whatever their theme or size. In order to link theoretical knowledge with practical application, students will be required to take part in the creation of a mediation project, through a practical experience in a society museum.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Learn about the development and current challenges facing history and society museums; learn about the place of intangible heritage and difficult heritage in the collections and exhibitions of history and society museums; develop basic skills in audience strategies in history and society museums; work on the narrative processes used in exhibitions; design a mediation project for a society museum.

Calendrier : Class sessions and visits will be organised according to the timetable of registered students. Registered students undertake to take part in the visits, which will take place on two Saturdays in the second term.
