Learning outcomes of the course :
|
| The city is a phenomenon multimillénaire since well before the Greek and Roman civilizations are born first cities in organized societies of the Middle East.
But the urban phenomenon is now completely transformed:
- In 1900, despite the industrial revolution in Western countries, 10% of the world population lives in cities (160 million people);
- In 1950, the rate rises to 29% or 730 million for a population increase to 2.5 billion people;
- In 2000, the urbanization rate was 48% with an urban population of 2.9 billion people out of a population of 6.1 billion.
- In 2008, the world has officially reached an urbanization rate of 50%, half of the 6.5 billion people living in urban areas so today.
- In 2008, the urban population has officially surpassed the rural population. We are now more than 50% of urban dwellers across the globe.
- The phenomenon of growth currently at work is twofold:
- growth is both in% and gross figure as the world population increases sharply.
- Between 1900 and 2000, the population was multiplied by 4.
* Definition of urbanity: "Savoir-vivre ensemble"
- Can we talk about metropolitan's urbanity?
- Do your not going to a de-civilized man, a bursted man, as has become the city?
- New residents of suburban areas are unclassifiable in the old categories urban / rural.
- The third space
- What future for urbanity?
- The city in Europe is associated with the concept of living together, combining several scales: Family, building, street, neighborhood, town, agglomeration, nation, religion, etc ...
