Learning unit contents

Listening B1 Reading B1 Speaking A2+ Lecturing B1 Writing A2+
Study of the vocabulary and the main chapters of Dutch grammar through grammar (drill) exercises, reading, writing, speaking and listening activities. The subjects are of general interest.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The objective is that all students get the same level at the end of the year.

Various strategies will enable students to practice basic language skills.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

A basic knowledge of oral and written Dutch is required.
Evening courses and online courses for beginners (see ISLV)
In addition, all students are automatically registered for an online help module on eCampus: iWeG (Interactieve Woordenschat en Grammatica).

Additional information:

Examination in January : vocabulary (Basiswoordenschat)
The mark of the midterm exam in January will count for 20% of the June final mark if > or = 10/20. The mark will have no effect on the final grade if it doesn't reach 10/20 and the final exam will then be cumulative.
Written an oral examination at the end of the year.
Oral examination in two parts : 1st part about one of the topics discussed in class, 2nd part about an article that students chose in the newspaper or on internet. The article must be handed in before end of April.

Course participation is compulsory. Attendance will be recorded. An immediate update is essential in case of absence.
