Learning common + business German (grammar + vocabulary + developing the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

In connection with the KLOs, this course aims at helping the students:










  • to demonstrate scientific precision and a critical mind (strategy).
  • to communicate efficiently, internally and externally, about a company, organization or project (communication).
  • to improve their proficiency in German as a foreign language (communication).
  • to raise their awareness of the multicultural and international features of their environment (communication).
  • to be aware of the societal, economic, political, and environmental issues of a compex situation (Adaptability).
  • to be curious and to show a scientific precision of academic level (Adaptability).


At the end of the year, the students can reach a good European B1/B1+ Level. (European Language Portfolio)

They should be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters, to deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling, to produce simple connected texts on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, and to describe experiences, events, and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations on opinions and plans.

Overall European level A2-B1 for the four skills.

Additional information:

Active participation in class: 10%

 

Written exam in January / Written and oral exam in June.

+- 60% for the written exam

+- 30% for the oral exam.



The student who doesn't take all the parts of the exam will get a 0/20 as final mark.

Compulsary tests can be organised during the semesters.


The listening comprehension tests which are organised during the semesters ("Auberges allemandes") are compulsary and part of the final mark. Absence will result in a 0 mark. These tests cannot be taken at another time.

An oral presentation will be held in class during the second semester and is part of the final mark.

Assessment methods for the August exam session could be different and will be communicated to the concerned students.

Some assessments, which are organised during the semesters ("Auberges allemandes", vocabulary tests or others) cannot be taken again during the August exam session. Absence will result in a 0 mark.
