Course contents :  
CERL level of the course: A2 Study of basic grammar and vocabulary, based on the 4 skills: reading and listening comprehension, writing and speaking exercises, through authentic situations and documents.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
This course is the first year of an optional program. The final objective is the written and oral practice of everyday Dutch. During this first year, students will focus on basic grammar and vocabulary and improve their 4 skills through various exercises and activities.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
A basic knowledge of the oral and written language is recommended.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Reading and listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary exercises, debates, written assignments, etc.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
1.5h / week.Homework and preparations are planned throughout the year. Students should attend classes and participate actively. Possibility to follow online @lter courses.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
Oral and written exam at the end of the year. The written exam will be composed of grammar and vocabulary exercises, as well as reading and writing exercises. The oral exam will be about the different files seen during the year (content + vocabulary) + a text chosen among 10 possible texts (see syllabus Level A). Students should subscribe for the oral exam before the end of April via email or during the classes. They have to communicate the text they have chosen before this deadline, otherwise they will not be allowed to take this part of the oral exam. Attention: the same text cannot be chosen by more than 3 students! In case of a second session, the written and oral exam will take place on the same day. Students should subscribe for the oral exam. They can keep the same text as in June.
