Course contents :  
The course will focus on Australian fiction of the Reconciliation period and seek to identify frequent strategies of settler national identity definiton at a time of great cultural uncertainty. The following texts will be examined in detail:
David Malouf, The Conversations at Curlow Creek (Vintage, 1996)
Alex Miller, Journey to the Stone Country (Sceptre, 2002)
Robert Drewe, Grace (Penguin, 2005).
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Familiarize the students with the latest developments in Australia's cultural history; enhance their capacity for textual analysis and interpretation.

The course is taught in English.

Heuristic seminars.

The students will be requested to write a personal essay, on a related topic of their choice, followed by an oral debriefing with the teacher.
