Advanced study of a subject in recent literary and cultural theory: literature and psychoanalysis

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Familiarising the students with reading canonical theoretical texts. Developing their competences to critically assimilate and apply the available literature on a theoretical subject.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

A sufficient command of English for reading theoretical texts in this language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Detailed collective discussion of two texts (Lacan, Derrida), followed by autonomous reading of two other texts (Barbara Johnson, Shoshana Felman and/or Slavoj Zizek).
