Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The goal is to establish a general theoretical framework in which all conservation laws can be expressed in a very general way. The theory of constitutive models, including the study of the main axioms that are generally assumed is then introduced. In particular it is shown that linear models, both for fluids and solids, are particular cases of the general non linear theory. Eventually, some introductions to techniques aiming at finding approximate solutions to partial differential equations are introduced.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

In depth understanding of the fundamental hypothesis, and the implications of such hypothesis, that governs the movement of a continuum body.

This course contributes to the learning outcomes I.1, I.2, II.1, II.2, II.3, III.1, III.2, III.3, III.4, IV.1, IV.2, VI.1, VI.2, VII.2, VII.4 of the MSc in biomedical engineering.
