Learning unit contents

This introductory course aims at providing the student with sound theoretical knowledge for analysing and modelling sociotechnical systems, as well as practical bases on workplace analysis and risk assessment. During this course, we will discuss how the knowledge about human capabilities and limitations can be applied to the design of workplaces, work methods and jobs for optimal safety, well-being and overall system performance.

Topics include: the ergonomic approach to work analysis, regulations in ergonomics, methods for analysing work activity and risk exposure, physical risks and occupational accidents, musculoskeletal disorders, psychosocial risk factors, shift work and chronobiology, telework, platform work, Industry 4.0, and safety culture.


 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Introduction to the ergonomic approach to work analysis from a theoretical and methodological point of view.

By the end of the learning unit, the student will be able to carry out an analysis of the work activity and identify ways of optimising the work system.
