Learning unit contents
The course will be essentially dedicated to the practical realization of a quantitative survey, form the formulation of the basic hypotheses until the production of a short report commenting the main results. The ten ours of theory will be dedicated to emphasize and develop the theoretical elements needed, in particular techniques of sampling and building of variables, such as they were introduced in the course "survey methodology"
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Following skills will be used during the course :
- Scientific literature review
- Formulation of the research question
- Realization of a survey questionnaire
- Choosing an sample
- Fieldwork for the survey
- Presentation of the results
- Writing a paper about the results
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Good knowledge of the course of "survey methodology" : indicators, variables, sampling
Successful completion of the "Survey Methodology" course (SOCI0053 or METO 1015) is a mandatory prerequisite for this course.

Realization of the survey will be led in small groups, under the supervision of Sebastien Fontaine

There will be no new content. This course is the practical application of the ourse of "survey methodology".
In january, there will be a compulsory test on the main notions of survey methodology.

It is a group work, weighted as follows:
1/4: the oral presentation at the end of the first term;
1/4: the questionnaire proposed at the end of the first term;
1/4: The sampling plan and the conduct of the survey;
1/4: Analysis and writing of the article.
