Learning unit contents
The course consists of an initial approach to the different forms of international aid (humanitarian aid, development aid), distinguishing between
- sources of funding (public aid, private aid),
- the actors (state agencies, international institutions, NGOs, grassroots international solidarity initiatives, etc.)
- different themes (food aid, environment, gender, governance and human rights, education, health, global citizenship, etc.)
- different debates (sustainable development, motivation for aid, amounts, perverse effects, etc.).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the Introduction to International Cooperation course, students will be able to :
- Identify the main players and current dynamics within international cooperation (development aid and humanitarian aid).
- Identify and understand the debates within the international aid industry.
- Develop a critical approach to international cooperation, its main players and its various contemporary issues.
- Identify the contribution of the social sciences to the study of the international aid industry.

The course is structured around :
1. In class :
- Lectures by the teacher + wooclap ;
- Debates around a movie.
2. Out of class:
- Homework based on watching short video clips (Homework available on E-campus)
