Learning unit contents
This course will be organised in 2016-2017. It will not be organised in 2017-2018. The course starts on 19 September and is held every Tuesday from 14:00 to 17:00 (26.09, 03.10, 10.10, 17.10, 24.10, 31.10, 07.11, 14.11, 21.11, 28.11). Possibility of additional sessions, which are yet to be scheduled. The course aims to study the Indian Union as a global actor in the geopolitical field through strategies and processes implemented by Indian Authorities in order to bring the country into the new world order. The materials provided are mainly designed for students wishing to specialize in the field of international relations and to improve their knowledge from a practical example, in this case: the Indian subcontinent. The teaching given here covers the main topics related to the field of international relations: law, economy, security issues, regional relationships (SAARC, Pakistan), international relationships (European Union, USA, China) and India's presence in international structures and bodies such as the United Nations, IBRD, WTO, etc.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The course offers students an opportunity to learn more about a specific topic dealing with India and international relations. During the ex cathedra introduction, several issues will be discussed. At the end of the training, students will be able to carry out a study and disseminate, both orally and in writing, the research results..
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Course work focuses on the international system. Therefore, students are encouraged to master, both theoretically and empirically, topics and features dealing with international issues, ongoing affairs and organizations that manage them.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is composed of two complementary parts. The first one will be given in a theoretical way (although the active participation of students is highly recommended). The second will require more involvement from the students. They will be required to go deeper into the specific issues discussed during the first session.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Teaching is based on lecture courses (three hours per week) during the first five sessions. Thereafter, the other sessions are devoted to presentations and case studies developed by students under the supervision of the professor. Student presence during the lectures is compulsory and highly recommended during the presentations.

The learning assessment process is based on an oral and individual presentation dealing with a specific topic chosen by the students. Each presentation will be followed by an analytical discussion and a Q/A session with all the attendees. Following these sessions, each student will be asked to submit a report (15 pages) about the chosen topic.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
The course is held every even year (2016-2017,2018-2019,...). The 2014-2015 course is held during the first semester, Friday 14.00 to 17.00. It will begin on Friday, 19 September . Students are required to be present, especially as the assessment will be based on their involvement and oral presentation on a subject that is related to the policies implemented by India to achieve its global ambitions.
