Learning unit contents
This course aims to develop and refine students' critical and forward-looking skills with regard to European policies by analysing them and drawing on the knowledge acquired during the course.
A theme is selected at the beginning of the year and will serve as a basis for prospective reflection. Students will have the opportunity to discuss this theme in groups, preferably with a view to reaching a common position. The results of these debates will be transcribed into a text, which may be legal in some cases.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The objective of the course is to produce a critical and forward-looking discussion paper on the European Union. A theme will be proposed to students at the beginning of the term.
Students must be able to demonstrate their investment in the debates and work.
By the end of the term, students will have improved their knowledge of the selected theme and will have grasped the political and technical difficulties of the European integration process by experiencing the difficulties encountered in the debate on ideas and their legal transposition.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
In principle, this course is only open to European Studies Master's students.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
A significant amount of preparatory work is required from the students and active participation in the sessions is necessary. This participation may be assessed if necessary.
Students will have to propose, discuss and negotiate possible solutions to the main question on the basis of further reading and research into European policies and the decision-making process.

Additional information:
The course is divided into knowledge transfer and discussion sessions. Sub-groups may be formed as required. Extensive homework will be required.
The process may be modified during the course of the term to best suit the needs of the chosen theme and the objective being pursued.

Documents may be made available to students. It will be possible to make the reading and analysis of certain documents compulsory.

The assessment will focus mainly on the quality of the work produced by the student during the process.
Assessments of participation in sessions and involvement in debates may be included in the final grade.
