Course contents :  
In-depth study of translation theory and practice in relationship with various sorts of both general and specialized texts.
Numerous translation exercices will be provided in order to extend the student's lexical and grammatical knowledge in Dutch and in French.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
By the end of the course, students will have further developed their knowledge of and analytic skills in Dutch and French. They will also have further developed their translation skills in the two languages. Since we cover various fields, thecourse also offers an opportunity to enlarge their encyclopedic knowledge and their research methodology, including the field of (specialized) terminology.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
A good knowledge of Dutch and an excellent knowledge of French.
The students are warmely adviced to follow the BAC1 and BAC2 introductory classes to Dutch/French translation before taking the class.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
Two tests during the year.
Written exam: translation of a general text dealing with a theme explored in class.
Oral exam: traduction à vue, translation map, translation theory, correction of the written exam.
