Learning unit contents

This course consists of two parts: Theory and exercices of translation. Teaching language is German. Very good knowledge of German and French is necessary.

 

- concrete translation exercices (as a real project we will translate a piece of theater for the FIGUMA- Festival in Alter Schlachthof Eupen, 3 november 2023)
- introduction to translation theory, mostly in German

-determine the public adressed by the translation

- use of ressources

- strategys of producing a good translation in a language other than the "mother tongue"

- if necessary, repetition of grammar chapters

- explain one's translational choice in German

- foresee and solve translational problems

 

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

very good knowledge of French and German.

translation of a variety of different text types

discussion of theoretical texts

project: translation of a piece of theatre for FIGUMA Festival in Eupen
