Politics and militancy

By the end of this activity, students will be able to translate political content fluently, idiomatically and appropriately for the target audience.

They will have developed strategies for documentary research and the effective use of search engines.

They will have broadened their knowledge of the realia and a range of political and social issues affecting the German-speaking world. They will also have increased their German and French vocabulary on these topics.

More generally, they will have improved their foreign language skills (reading comprehension, identifying textual and cognitive difficulties) and their mother tongue skills (summarising, reformulating, restructuring, adapting and condensing textual content). They will be able to translate technical content in the political field and produce a translation that is appropriate for its purpose. They will be better trained to check, reread and/or revise their own work and that of others in accordance with quality objectives. You will have developed your general knowledge and intellectual curiosity. They will have developed basic ethical skills: managing the various stages of an assignment, meeting deadlines and following instructions, working as part of a team, communicating with the client.
