Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The aim of this lecture is to teach the basis knowledge in crop production applicable in all cultivated areas of the planet. Starting from ecophysiological characteristics of model plants growing in temperate and tropical areas, it aims to present the main factors influencing performances and durability of the cultivation of plants grown in the major types of cropping systems.

The sequence of technical interventions, the choice and the management of techniques and inputs needed to optimize production and/or the maximization of (an)other ecosystem service(s) will be thoughfully consdiered according to the plant ecophysiology, the pedoclimatic and agronomic characteristics of the environment.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The knowledge objectives are the acquisition of basic knowledge about the influence of production techniques on the development and the crop growth, the production limitations due to the main abiotic, biotic and socio-economic constraints.
The objectives of competences are the ability to analyse, understand and discuss the main factors influencing the performances and the durability of plants productions and the impact of various stages of the technical itinerary implemented in growing conditions and ecosystems existing in temperate and tropical areas.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
