Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The main aim of the lectures is to illustrate the physiology of the cell at different levels of organisation (cellular and molecular levels).
The lectures will focuse on some fundamental aspects of cell biology such as biomolecules, membranes, bioenergetics and cellular metabolism, gene expression, membrane tardeting of proteins, cell cycle, etc.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This introductory course in biology is devoted to the study of the structure and functions of the cell, the common denominator of life. Study and understanding cells working are the essential bases for the understanding of the living world that surrounds us. These bases are part of the general training in science, all disciplines combined.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic knomledge of chemistry and biology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Theoretical courses are given ex cathedra but students are invited to participate (by answering questions asked by the teacher).

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face-to-face course

Additional information:

Lectures of 2 h given during the second quadrimestre. Presence at theoretical courses is not mandatory, but strongly advised.

Recommended or required readings

Lectures are given by using laptop and presentation software which allow a wide distribution of the diaporamas.
