General introduction to prophylactic dental treatment, including instrumentation, equipment and dental materials

The theoretical concepts taught in the General Introduction to Oral Care course include two distinct parts. The first part of this course will cover all the basic concepts necessary for the student hygienist to perform care in his area of ??expertise, namely: Custom fabrication of a mouth guard Whitening vital teeth using external techniques Application of adhesive sealing material without the use of invasive mechanical techniques. The different points covered in this first part will be the indications for the different therapies, a reminder of the materials and equipment necessary for the implementation of these therapeutic acts (these being covered in more depth in the context of the Instrumentation course). : materials, products and materials) and a complete description of the care techniques allowing the student to reproduce these techniques during the practical work sessions. The second part of this course will cover all the basic notions necessary for the hygienist student to be able to inform a patient about the techniques of general dental care and to be able to effectively assist and support a dentist when performing general dental care. This second part will make it possible to describe in a complete way the implementation of the main care of general dentistry allowing the student to understand the progress of the care and to assist the general dentist as well as possible during these various training courses. These notions will also be worked on during the practical work sessions. The theoretical concepts and practical work sessions taught as part of this General Introduction to Oral Care course therefore cover all the basic concepts necessary to be able to understand and explain the techniques for implementing the main dental care. general and to be able to carry out therapeutic acts in the field of competence of the hygienist, except for preventive therapeutic acts which will be specifically addressed in the courses of preventive dental medicine and oral hygiene and therapeutic acts specific to pedodontics, periodontology and dentofacial orthopedics which will be covered in particular in the course of specific oral treatments.

Specific dental treatments, including instrumentation, equipment and specific dental materials

The theoretical concepts taught in the course of Specific oral treatments, including instrumentation and specific dental biomaterials will address all the basic concepts necessary for the student hygienist to be able to carry out care in his field of competence as well as all notions necessary for the hygienist student to be able to inform a patient about specific care techniques and to be able to effectively assist and support a specialist dentist when carrying out care in the following areas of dentistry: Pediatric dentistry Dento-facial orthopedics Periodontology and implantology Oral rehabilitation (fixed and removable) Some of these concepts will also be covered during practical work sessions. A research work and a presentation will be required of you as part of the Specific oral treatments course, including specific dental instrumentation and biomaterials, specifically in the Periodontology and implantology section. This work and the presentation associated with it will count for 10% of the final evaluation mark.

The theoretical concepts and the practical work sessions taught in the context of this Specific Oral Treatments course therefore cover all the basic notions necessary to be able to understand and explain the techniques for implementing the main treatments in different dental specialties. dentistry and to be able to carry out therapeutic acts in the field of competence of the hygienist in dentofacial orthopedics and periodontology.

Part of the Notions of specific oral treatments course, including specific dental instrumentation and biomaterials, will also be devoted to the management of specific populations, namely patients identified as "at risk" of developing hemorrhagic and/or oral infectious complications. -dental. The various basic concepts to be taken into account during the anamnesis, the clinical examination and the radiological examination of these patients at risk will be discussed. Particular emphasis will be placed on the importance of inter-professional collaboration and communication with the medical community. During the Block 2 clinical internships organized in Q1 and Q2, the oral hygienist student will be able to become familiar with the management of these specific populations, namely patients identified as "at risk" of developing bleeding and/or infectious complications. oral.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

General introduction to prophylactic dental treatment, including instrumentation, equipment and dental materials

At the end of the General Introduction to Oral Care course: The student knows the indications related to the technical procedures covered in this course. The student knows the implementation procedures for carrying out the technical acts covered in the context of this course. The student is able to perform the care techniques learned in this course. The student knows the chronology and the different stages of the realization of the main care of general dentistry. The student is able to give information to a patient concerning the course of general dental care.

Specific dental treatments, including instrumentation, equipment and specific dental materials

At the end of the Specific Oral Treatments course, you - know the indications related to the technical procedures covered in this course. - know the implementation procedures for carrying out the technical acts covered in this course. - will be able to perform the care techniques learned in this course. - Be able to inform a patient about the course of care in different specialties of dentistry. - know the systemic pathologies, the therapies and the medications that increase the risk of bleeding and/or infection in the oral cavity. - know the implementation procedures for carrying out a complete oral check-up in specific populations that are patients identified as "at risk" of developing bleeding and/or infectious oral complications. - be able to carry out an oral care plan for an "at risk" patient - be able to transmit useful information to all the medical staff responsible for the medical or dental (therapeutic) care of the patient.

Other : Written theoretical exam and face-to-face practical exam in the preclinical room

Additional information:

The theory exam is a written exam. Questions of the MCQ/QRM/or/or type, matching tests make it possible to verify knowledge and understanding of the concepts taught. Open questions (with short answers (QROC)), texts to be completed and matching tests assess understanding and the ability to apply the concepts taught. The mark of the theoretical exam will be equivalent to 60% of the final mark. A practical work exam will also be organized in pre-clinical, on care simulators. The mark of the practical exam will count for 40% of the final mark. The evaluation methods in the second session will be similar to those of the 1st session. Individual consultation of exam papers is possible after deliberation for individual feedback (by appointment).
