Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The course covers the law of statutory and supplementary pensions for employees, self-employed persons and statutory employees. It also covers some aspects of comparative law and European law. In addition to legal techniques, the course aims to introduce students to the major social, economic, financial and political issues of this branch of social security, by far the most important in budgetary terms.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, students should be able to give an accurate account of the legal regime of pensions discussed in the course, to reason autonomously on a casus related to the topic and to propose informed and lucid reflections on the issues at stake in pension systems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The first part of the course is taught ex cathedra by the teacher. The second part of the course is devoted to the presentation of work carried out by the students on subjects determined by mutual agreement with the professor. The practicalities of producing and presenting these works will be explained during the first class session.

The assessment is based partly on the work presented by the student and partly on an oral examination. The final mark is made up of 50% of the mark awarded for the assignment and 50% of the mark awarded for the oral examination.

In the oral examination, students may use the codes or a collection of legal texts without annotation or personal comment, with the exception of article-to-article references.

The main assessment criteria include the student's ability to develop a legal argument, explaining the supporting arguments and articulating the arguments in a logical, rigorous and coherent manner.
