Learning unit contents

At the end of this course, students will have a global vision of the health problems of cultivated plants and livestock and their link with cultural practices and farming methods. They will be aware of the possibilities of action beyond the simple use of conventional medicinal inputs and will be able to analyze a particular problem by proposing means of preventive action activating different agroecological levers.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic knowledge of ecology, biology, botany, agricultural and livestock production systems, entomology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course will be taught collegially by the four teachers. Each teacher will provide an ex cathedra theoretical introduction on the following topics Concepts of ecology and agroecology in field crops Plant pathology Animal health Soil biology and microbiology Plant protection
Then, case studies, lectures, field observation trips and visits will be organized to illustrate in practice how field actors and researchers position themselves to activate agroecology levers to solve crop and livestock health problems.
Finally, students will complete a group work on a case study or a problem related to the course. This work will be presented to the whole audience and will be the subject of a written report.
