Learning unit contents

  • Introduction to closed-loop control
  • Theory of linear and time-invariant systems (formulation of dynamic behaviour, state-space representation, characteristic parameters and responses)
  • Transfer function (Laplace transform, method of residues)
  • Frequency analysis (Bode diagrams, Nyquist diagram)
  • Specifications of regulated systems (accuracy, rapidity, overshoot, stability margins)
  • Correction of regulated systems
  • Exercises and applications in laboratory and by simulation

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This course allows students to reach a intermediate level of skills in the professionnal case

  • Design and size equipements of monitoring and production in a agroenvironmental context
After completing the course the student is expected to

  • realize a functional diagram of a dynamical system
  • compute the transient response of a linear and time-invariant system to a given input
  • study the specifications of regulated systems
  • Tune controllers
  • implement a controller
