Learning unit contents

Introduction to the vocabulary and concepts used in computer science.
Use of spreadsheet software to solve problems.
Use of Database Management Systems (DBMS) to manage Information with SQL language.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

After completing the course the student is expected to
- understand the vocabulary and concepts used in computer science,
- evaluate IT Equipement (hardware and software) to select these that meets user needs,
- use spreadsheet software to solve problems,
- use DBMS to manage Information with SQL language.

  • 3 ex-cathedra sessions
  • 6 e-learning sessions with practical sessions in small groups

Additional information:

The exam will consist of resolving exercises using Base and/or Calc softwares and answered to some questions related to the theory.

BE CAREFUL, participation in the exam is allowed only if the student has participated in the practical session 3 and 6.


Yellow code: The exam will be done on the computer of the faculty

Orange code: The exam will be done on a personal computer using e-campus plateform. A duration per question will be fixed to avoid the cheating.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course

Students are invited to visit regularly Hyperplanning and refer to mails sent via e-Campus in order to know dates, hours and rooms of the face-to-face lessons and know about all different activities in relation with the lessons.
