Learning unit contents

* Further study of the main chapters of Dutch grammar (as in LANG8020) * Further study of the vocabulary & exploitation of the contents of texts; lexical and grammatical exercises; speaking and writing exercises
* Study of political vocabulary * Listening comprehension exercises

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

* This course develops basic language skills, especially the mastery of oral and written Dutch from both the passive and active points of view.
* All useful and practical information can be found in a document available on eCampus, Informatie en organisatie.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Level A2 (as taught in LANG8020) is recommended for grammar.
Evening courses (see ISLV) or online courses (@LTER).
All students are automatically enrolled in the iWeG (Interactieve Woordenschat en Grammatica) course on eCampus. These online modules are a valuable addition to the course and allow students to practice at their own pace.

Reading and listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary exercises, debates, written assignments, etc.

Additional information:

2 hours a week during the whole year dealing with grammar/vocabulary exercises + writing + reading/listening comprehension + speaking.

Both are available at Intercopy and on eCampus.

All documents handed out in class will be available online on eCampus or sent by email.

We strongly advise students to read articles about the themes discussed in class, on their own and to practice their listening skills at home (e.g. by listening to VRT podcasts, or watching TV).

written exam ( multiple-choice questionnaire, open-ended questions ) AND oral exam


Additional information:

Oral and written exam at the end of the year.
 
Written exam: The written exam will mostly include grammar and vocabulary exercices but also writing and reading exercises.

Oral exam: discussion on one of the themes seen in the course + discussion on articles from a readings file.

The written and oral exams in June are two inseparable parts.

Detailed exam guidelines will be provided in time.

Class activities may depend on the total number of students enrolled for LANG8021.

Classwork results will be taken into account for the first AND second session.
