Learning unit contents
The research seminar addresses research questions in the fields of French literature from the 17th to the 21st century. Each year, several thematic modules are organized by the course holders and the researchers (PhD and postdoctoral students) from their departments, according to ongoing projects. These researchers belong to the Traverses Research Unit (UR Traverses), respectively to the 18th Century and Revolutions Study Group (GEDHSR) and the Literatures and Society (L&S) research center.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The course aims to give students the possibility of acquiring the theoretical and methodological bases as well as the techniques involved in oral and written expression required for carrying out research in the chosen theme.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
A good general knowledge of French literature, from the Enlightenment to today.

Oral seminar presentations (presentation of the problem in question, then progress and the results of the research); and a written paper (a scientific article).

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
The seminar is worth 10 credits. Students are required to take two modules (for 5 credits each) in MA1 and two more in MA2 among those offered, without distinction of century. The researchers in charge of each module organize their activities following a calendar (annual or semestrial) suited to their own research regime: meetings, research in libraries, data sharing, theoretical presentations, etc. The type of evaluation is specific to each module, but the final grade is an average of the grades obtained for each module (in general: continuous evaluation and/or presentation and/or written assignment). Bibliographical information is given at the beginning of each seminar/module.
