Learning unit contents

The seminar in philosophy is organized every year around a choice - which is to be made before September 30 - between two or three parallel seminars dealing with different topics.

In even years, seminars are organized in the following fields: Phenomenology; Political and social philosophy; Philosophy of science.

In odd-numbered years, seminars are organized in the following fields: Aesthetics and critical theories of culture; Ontology.

In 2023-2024,

-the Ontology seminar will take as its theme "Ways of Seeing";

- the Aesthetics and Critical Theory seminar will take as its theme "Forms and politics. Current Debates on Critical Theory".

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Conceptualization and problematization of a fundamental question in philosophy; in-depth mastery of theoretical contents both in the history of philosophy and in contemporary issues.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Undergraduate philosophical education. Passive command of the English language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Collective work on a philosophical theme through readings, lessons and talks as well as discussions.

 
Ontology Seminar

The theme of the Ontology Seminar this year will be "Ways of seeing". In the first term, it will be held on Friday Oct. 6, Oct. 20, Oct. 27, Nov. 10, Nov. 24 and Dec. 8 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Meeting Space of the Philosophy Department. The work will be organized around presentations by teachers and guest speakers. In the second term, exchange and discussion sessions will be set up tu support students in writing a text taking as a theme a "way of seeing" of their choice. These sessions will take place on Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., alternating with the Seminar on Aesthetics and Critical Theories of Culture. The precise dates will be communicated later.



Aesthetics and Critical Theory Seminar

The Aesthetics and critical theories of culture Seminar will take as a theme « Forms and Politics ». Il will be held on Fridays in the second semester, approximately two weeks out of three, alternating with the Ontology Seminar.

Sessions will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
