Learning unit contents

The course is based on Marcel Crahay's book "Psychologie de l'éducation".

Introduction
-The psychological presuppositions of the precursors
- The contributions of the behaviorism
- Humanistic psychology and education
- Cognitivism and education (intro neuposcience + neuromythes)
- The contributions of constructivism
- Education, culture et society

Some specific topics (focus on mathematics and reading, ...) are also developed.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Discovering and understanding the foundations of classical theories of educational psychology and some central concepts of these theories.
Analysing teaching practices in light of theoretical perspectives and core concepts of these theories.

Discovering of the course contents through explanations of the core concepts and illustrative examples.

Some sessions will take the form of work to be carried out at home, according to instructions which will be specified during the course.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course

No major changes, but the organization of the chapters and the slides specific to the various themes may undergo various adaptations and updates.


In addition, the way in which questions are distributed to assess the two learning expectations will be slightly revised this year. Further information will be provided during the course.
