Learning unit contents

This course follows Descriptive and inferential psychostatistics, part 1. The course deals with statistical procedures to analyse data from more complex research designs: power analysis, analysis of variance for simple, factorial, repeated measure et mixed designs, multiple comparisons of means, Kruskal-Wallis test, Friedman's test, point-biserial correlation, Spearman's rank correlation, Kendall's concordance coefficient, partial correlations, covariance analysis, multiple regression, factorial analysis.


The course emphasizes the use of statistical procedures in situations that psychologists might encounter. The content of the course therefore focuses on data analysis and exercise solving.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Analyze data from scientific studies in psychology, speech and language therapy and education, with sophisticated statistical treatments and to accurately interpret the results
- Read and understand the results of scientific studies that include sophisticated statistical analyses, especially analyses of variance
- Adopt a critical approach toward the generalization of findings from sample measures.

Descriptive and inferential psychostatistics, part 1 (PSYC5895).
The course requires a good knowledge of basic mathematics
